House Party Protocol’s official on-chain governance system launches today. Every HPP token holder can now have a say in the protocol’s direction.

What Is HPP DAO?

HPP DAO is the official governance organization responsible for decision-making across the House Party Protocol ecosystem. Rather than leaving protocol decisions to a single entity, HPP DAO ensures that token holders collectively determine the protocol’s direction through predefined procedures and rules.

Protocol parameter changes, treasury allocation, and ecosystem expansion strategy: all of these decisions will now go through HPP DAO.

Why HPP Built Its Own

We explored using existing third-party DAO platforms early on. The barriers were significant. Third-party platforms still in operation present various challenges: the risk of unexpected shutdowns, high costs, and most critically, no path to integrating with HPP’s native XP system and staking rewards.

HPP governance is not a simple voting tool. The core of the system is an integrated incentive structure that measures governance participation via XP and feeds that participation directly into staking rewards. Building that properly meant building it ourselves.

Three Core Components

HPP DAO is organized around three channels.

Discourse Forum is the hub for governance discussion. It is where proposals are first introduced, refined, and brought to community consensus. Every proposal must pass through the Forum before advancing to a vote.

Voting Layer is the on-chain and off-chain voting infrastructure. Built on a staking-based decision-making mechanism, all results are publicly recorded and verifiable by anyone.

HPP Report is a curated governance report that captures key discussions, decisions, and execution outcomes across the DAO.

Proposal Lifecycle

Every proposal must pass through five stages in order. No stage can be skipped.

  1. Discussion: The problem is defined, and community feedback is gathered in the Forum.
  2. Formalization: The proposal is structured into a standardized format. Only proposals that clear this stage advance to a vote.
  3. Voting: The formal vote takes place. The outcome is either approved or rejected; only approved proposals move forward.
  4. Execution: The approved proposal is implemented. Execution cannot exceed the approved scope or deviate from predefined logic.
  5. Integration: Governance participation is recorded and reflected in the XP system.

If a proposal is rejected during voting or fails to meet formalization requirements, that cycle ends. Resubmission is allowed with clearly documented revisions.

Voting Process

Voting in HPP DAO is staking-based. Voting Power is granted to users who stake HPP tokens, a design that ties governance participation to long-term commitment rather than short-term speculation. Depending on the proposal type, voting may be conducted on-chain or off-chain, and each proposal specifies the method used and its governance effect.

Voting Power is fixed at a snapshot taken at the start of the voting period. Token transfers during voting do not affect already-confirmed Voting Power. Each address may vote only once per proposal, and Voting Power cannot be duplicated or split.

XP & Rewards: Participation That Pays

HPP DAO is more than a place to cast votes. The extent of your participation in governance is directly reflected in your rewards.

XP (Experience Points) is a metric used to quantify governance participation. XP is awarded for activities such as contributing to proposal discussions, submitting proposals, and voting. It is recorded per address. XP is a signal of contribution, not a source of voting authority.

XP will be integrated with the upcoming Staking Seasons. Further details will be announced in line with each season’s rollout.

직접 구축한 이유

HPP DAO는 단순히 투표를 하는 공간이 아닙니다. 거버넌스에 얼마나 적극적으로 참여하느냐가 보상에 직접 반영됩니다.

XP(경험치)는 거버넌스 참여를 수치화하는 지표입니다. 제안 토론 기여, 제안 제출, 투표 등의 활동에 대해 XP가 부여되며, 주소별로 기록됩니다. XP는 기여도를 나타내는 지표이며 투표권을 생성하지는 않습니다.
